August is Pediatric Dentistry Month at COSS

Pediatric Dentistry Month

In August, Chile commemorates Children's Day, and we are celebrating it at COSS!

Since good oral habits aren’t born overnight, it’s important to encourage them early on. That’s why the first visit to the Pediatric Dentist should happen when your baby has their first tooth or within the first year of life. This visit is a great opportunity for children to become comfortable with the dentist, who can monitor proper dental development and help prevent future issues. It’s essential for parents to be involved in this process, fostering a positive attitude from the start. Here are some key tips:

  • Schedule regular dental check-ups for your kid
  • Teach and ensure they brush their teeth properly
  • Limit their intake of sugars and foods that can harm their dental health

Start caring for your little one’s oral health from the very beginning!

COSS Activities:

Always committed to the ongoing enhancement of our specialists’ skills to ensure the highest standards of attention, the COSS team recently participated in two training sessions.

The first was on the new Dexis Intraoral Scanner, a wireless, high-performance device that offers ultra-fast scanning and an expanded field of view. This advanced technology was recently acquired by the clinic and will soon be available to all our patients.

Additionally, at COSS we received a demonstration of the new 3M dental resins, renowned for their exceptional quality and esthetic results in restorations. The team is excited to start using these innovative materials to provide even better care moving forward.

Meeting the COSS Team: Dr. Florencia Zambrano, Pediatric Dentist

My name is Florencia, but everyone calls me Flo. I am a mom of four—Olivia, Lucía, Amelia, and Domingo. We also have two guinea pigs and a dog. I love hand crafts, from decoupage (I have an enormous collection of napkins), embroidery, imitation jewelry making, sewing (I made a lot of clothes for my kids when they were little), and more. I enjoy singing, whether in the car or in the shower 😂, and spending time outdoors with my family.

  • Why did you want to become a dentist? I always wanted to be a doctor. My parents are doctors, and I wanted to follow their example. I also loved fixing things; from a young age, I would repair the TV, the phone, the fax machine (back in those days), computers—anything really. I was fascinated by how things work mechanically. Dentistry is the perfect blend of what I enjoy.
  • Where did you study? I studied at the Los Andes University, and I am very grateful for the education I received there. Later, I specialized in Oral Rehabilitation at Del Desarrollo University and in Pediatric Dentistry at Finis Terrae University.
  • Favorites:
    – Food: Thai, Indian, Italian cuisine, and I am a chocolate fan.
    – Movie or activity: My favorite movie is Pride and Prejudice; I’ve watched it a thousand times.
    – Music: All things from the ‘80s, but I generally listen to a bit of everything.
    – Toothpaste: Lately, I’ve been using Elmex.
  •  Tell us about the best experience of your life: Definitely, when my four children were born. There’s no better experience—those four days were truly magical.

What is your dream achievement as a dentist? My goal is for more patients to access quality, pleasant, pain-free care every day—feeling welcomed, understood, and fully valued to achieve comprehensive health, just as we strive to do here at COSS. In this regard, I would love to work again with a foundation in the future, helping those who need it most

If you experience a dental injury, severe pain, or need urgent care, remember you can always contact us.
Hopefully, you won’t need us, but if you do, COSS is here!
